Insulated Spa in Illinois

This insulated spa was built utilizing the energy-efficient, insulated pool wall system.

This is new energy efficient, eco-friendly, green building construction technology for a naturally warmer pool. In non-heated pools it will increase the usability of the pool by at least 35% and in a heated pool it will reduce the heating costs by 70% to 80%. It’s cheaper, easier and faster to save energy than it is to buy or produce it.

Pools built utilizing this construction method can generally be built less expensively than other types of construction methods and types of pools. Also, the heating costs saved over time will actually pay for the construction costs of the pool when heated.

Eco-Friendly Crossbox House

This project is a prototype of a Three-dimensional modular and industrialized house, built with four 40’shipping containers. The aim of this project is to build a low cost architect’s housing with high focus on environmental issues. With a industrial approach, the construction time is reduced, as the prices are getting down. Each volume presents a very simple design: living area on the ground floor, and three bedrooms on the first floor. The crossing of the two boxes provides a covered entrance and a carport.

Eco Friendly Green Modular Residential Design

Attractive architecture style, best house design, bioclimatic machine, eco friendly building design, energy house, flexible pre-fabricated building systems, future house design styles, green modular home design

In global warming era, residential that designed in low cost, zero CO2 emissions and a low environmental impact is a must. Like this house, designed to be self-produced energy house, but still in attractive architecture style. The architectural design integrates photovoltaic panels, solar capture during the winter months, circulation of air in the summer months and other passive environmental strategies that render the residence a bioclimatic machine. The building cost is kept to a minimum by using light and flexible pre-fabricated building systems: structural elements, integrated services, and mobile elements such as sliding-removable-supple wall panels for internal divisions in the apartments. External walls are made from modular panels. The material changes – glazed or opaque- creating an elevation that is dynamic materially and spatially integrating balconies, terraces and loggias. The structural framework allows a variety of apartment sizes adapting to the different spatial needs of the occupants. For the exteriors, on the other hand, wall unit or single panel cladding systems built of interchangeable components have been adopted in order to vary the external look of the property and ensure it is consistent with the design inside. Every available technological breakthrough has been employed to limit construction costs without compromising quality. So this is a home that anyone can afford, as most of the mortgage is paid by the energy produced.

Designing homes around tropical breezes and existing natural resources.

House Hunters International Costa Rica Full Episode HGTV. An interview with real estate agent Rebecca Clower, who will be featured in both a new House Hunters episode and the upcoming reality show pilot.

The emerging field of biomimetics has given rise to new technologies created from biologically inspired engineering. Biomimetics is not a new idea. Humans have been looking at nature for answers to both complex and simple problems throughout our existence. Nature has solved many of today’s engineering problems such as hydrophobicity, wind resistance, self-assembly, and harnessing solar energy through the evolutionary mechanics of selective advantages.

My newest work promotes the study and imitation of nature’s remarkably efficient designs into foundations and walls of homes. My facility in rainforest of Costa Rica is bringing together eco engineers, architects and innovators who can use those models to create sustainable technologies. From K-12 classrooms to universities, from earthhomes that store and create warmth. My newest project is a tropical earthhomes that create cooler temperatures. Biological researchers around the world are coming to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, the most bio intense place on earth. I am passionate about developing educational programs for carpenters, builders and contractors with an interest in preservation vs. development. Students, professionals and the general public is welcome to attend my Biomimicry workshop in 2014. Working to create public policies that use biomimicry as a solution to sustainability challenges. Encouraging companies that are profiting from biomimicry to provide financial support for biodiversity.

Earthbag Dome in Skyrim! Eco-friendly housing in Tamriel. (Enable annotations)

I have an interest in superadobe home building and started to imagine how would it be to live in this kind of construction. So I decided to simulate it in Skyrim. No relation to dome structures of Morrowind, so no kwamas, ash hoppers, silt striders or netches were harmed in the construction. 😉 By the way, the horns on my avatar’s helmet are made of papier mache.

Eco Friendly Affordable Housing Project

Eco Friendly Affordable Housing Project

affordable housing project, eco house plans, green housing plans,

The major elements are built in a factory, using recycled materials. Once the materials are on site, it takes about 18 hours to assemble a unit. The overall construction cost is under £60,000 (about 0,000). To make savings while improving quality, the partners considered a wide range of options before settling on a practical way to cut on-site construction costs, by fabricating timber frames for walls, ceilings and floors in a controlled, factory environment. The combined approach of the housebuilder and architect was to design each home with two distinct zones – a ‘service zone’, incorporating bathrooms, utility space, boilers and staircases, and an uncluttered ‘living zone’ comprising bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms. The ‘working’ parts of each house – stairs, heating, ventilation, plumbing, and power, which are complex, yet highly standardised parts – are pre-fabricated, allowing the remaining ‘living’ space to be treated as a highly flexible shell. Components could then be delivered to the site as a ‘flat pack’ ready to be assembled in just 31 days, providing a huge saving on on-site construction costs, while still maintaining the quality of the finished product.

Environmentally friendly floating hotel in Cambodian Rainforest

Environmentally friendly floating hotel in Cambodian Rainforest

The Four Rivers Floating Lodge is located on the Tatai River in the southern reaches of Cambodia Cardamom Mountains, halfway between Bangkok and Phnom Penh.
This region of rainforest and coastal mangroves barely features on the tourist trail and is accessible only by boat.
Four Rivers consists of twelve huge South African safari tents erected on a string of floating platforms anchored to the riverbed.
There are no permanent structures so if the hotel were towed away there would be little sign that it had ever existed.
However Cambodia’s economy is developing fast and the Government wants to increase its domestic energy production by building dams along rivers such as the Tatai.
This development along with sand dredging, which destroys fish breeding grounds and illegal logging threaten the delicate environment around the resort.
The resort is the idea of its Romanian owner Valentin Pawlik and his Filipina wife Anna Pawlik-Szocs who decided to build the hotel after visiting the area in 2007.
“We knew Cambodia as just Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville that’s all.” says Anna. “So when we saw Koh Kong and specifically Tatai and this spot here, it has just amazed us and we decided then, right then and there, this was in 2007 when we decided to do something here.”
Simple yet stylish, the tents come complete with en suite bathrooms, minibars, flatscreen TVs and DVD players.
A central pontoon carries a small library, bar and restaurant.
The aim at Four Rivers is to make little impact on the environment.
Twelve hours of electricity is generated daily from solar panels with the rest from generators burning bio diesel.
There is a sophisticated water filtration system that collects and recycles used water before pumping it back into the river.
The use of wood is limited and modern composite materials have been integrated in the construction.
Maintaining a hotel in the middle of a jungle is a constant challenge says Anna.
“The extreme humidity is actually challenging all of the structures here,” she says. “It makes everything rust, it encourages the build up of microbes which can eventually tear the tents.”
The resort organises daily excursions into what is one of the largest and most unexplored forests in Southeast Asia.
Piles of sand from sand dredging, which has wrecked the local fishing industry, can be seen all along the riverbank.
The dredgers churn up the riverbed destroying fish breeding grounds and causing the riverbanks to collapse.
For now the large sand dredging boats have moved on from Tatai leaving only small local operators but they may return.
Many of the tourists staying at the resort take organised treks into the rain forest with the help of local guides.
A swim at Tatai waterfall is the perfect way to cool down with the pounding torrent giving a great back massage.
Many of the animals who live in the forest come to the river to drink including elephants, pileated gibbons and monkeys.
Yiyeksi Larrasolo from Mexico City is staying at the resort taking time out from a busy schedule managing a restaurant in Singapore.
“They respect the nature and they work with the locals and they try to maintain this environment in a pristine condition,” she says “This place is amazing.”
Sunsets are often spectacular at Tatai and they highlight the beauty and fragility of the environment.
The weather in Cambodia is excellent in December, with very little rain, and with average temperatures hovering around 26 degrees celsius.
